Lazarus Risen: Why Going Quarterly Was A Big Deal (written for CBR.com)

In early 2019, after an extended hiatus, Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s dystopian political drama Lazarus came back to life. Lazarus: Risen saw Forever Carlyle return to the fray in a new quarterly 64 page format. This announcement didn’t just get me excited about returning to one of the most intricately planned worlds in contemporary comics, it got me excited for what this might mean for other Image published series.

Genshin Impact: Can Gacha be Good? (written for CBR.com)

Genshin Impact, a free-to-play ARPG, has been getting a lot of attention over the past month. It’s seen a lot of praise, but it’s also attracted a bit of controversy thanks to its use of a Gacha mechanic. For those of you who don’t know, in a Gacha game you spend real world money for a chance to win a certain character or item. Genshin Impact made its production costs back within its first two weeks of fully launching using this approach, and unlike many Gacha games the gameplay is actually pretty good. 2019 a Year of Transformations (written for empathy.co)

As a small child, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always gave the same answer; an architect. As I got older, those aspirations changed. Andrew asked the important questions: What are some of the biggest impediments stopping investors from choosing investment trusts? How do closed-ended vehicles perform against open-ended? And why do so many investment trusts have such strange names?

Investing for the Long-Term (written for SubThirtyFive.com)

In this, our third and final seminar, we heard from Catharine Flood, Client Service Director at Baillie Gifford. Catharine uncovered how chimps are better than people at identifying facts, explained why only 0.3% of companies on the US market are responsible for over half of its $35 trillion value, and revealed how stupid you can look when managing an investment trust and why that’s important.

How Do You Develop a Customer Centric Video Strategy? (written for Hub.tv)

As any video agency will tell you, it’s an important question to ask. There’s been a seismic shift in what is considered to be effective marketing practice. Traditional ‘Above the line/Below the line’ strategies are being scrapped in favour of touchpoint optimisation. With an audience that practically lives online, across multiple devices, and has little to no attention span, it’s become increasingly important to identify their Moments that Matter and, in those moments, deliver content that is relevant and immediately engaging.

Me, My Mouse, and I

Dressed in my boxers, armed with a paintbrush, and stalking across my bedroom floor, my actions were at odds with my beliefs. I was out for blood and all it took was a week of disturbed sleep.
